Child actress turned futurist Caroline Houck began her use of conceptualism as a hybrid of futures visioning and creative direction for some of the world’s largest brands. Her ability to develop long-ranging lifestyle analysis came from an early interest in and compassion for her fellow human. Her lifelong observations lent a great deal of insight to her early work with Promostyl, a leading style and trend agency with bases in Paris, New York and Tokyo. Years of consulting with brands like Samsung, Victoria’s Secret, Ray Ban, Alloy, Target, Walmart and xoxo revealed her keen sense of what was to come as she later watched futures she anticipated come to fruition.
Upon reflection about her work and life, Caroline realized she was forecasting much further into the future than the thinkers who were her peers and mentors. As a result, she made a radical shift of focus for her work. She chose to deeply immerse herself in research so she could better understand how to contribute to cultural growth in our time. Created from a hopeful and heartfelt vantage of a resident of the future, through bold sympathies and playful insight, her conceptual works reflect a reality of what is now and possibility for a better tomorrow.
What are your dreams? What are you here to create? How can the AWElife community help you realize your dreams?
my dream is to use all my talents to save the world in a very practical way. helping people live more sustainably is one of the ways i am doing so but the biggest way, which i would love collaboration on, especially help with funding, or funding, is to combine an investment option and saving land from development. the model is this: collect investment, a long term investment, not available to redeem for 5 years, buy land with that investment, improve some of the land with permaculture development, ie. natural building and sustainablility landscaping and land management, sell some of that land as shares in a coop within a land trust and thus make profit. as more profit is made and land increases in value, the value of the investment goes up and is thus redeemable for a higher value after 5 years. this is the most exciting thing i a doing working on and would love investors to help buy the first land.
Experience, Work & Education
For 15 years (although she started as a curious kid) Caroline Houck has professionally researched the edge of young adult culture. A pioneer futurist, market analyst and brand strategist/designer she gets intimately familiar with consumer wants and needs. Rather than simply observing culture, Caroline experiences it first hand. In touch with its deeper motivations, its subtle and omnipresent interconnections and its globally reaching (understandable and explainable) cause and effect relationships, she translates insight into tangible business strategies to meet consumer needs like no other futurist or brand designer in this era.
Her lifelong observations lent a great deal of insight to her early work with Promostyl, a leading style and trend agency with bases in Paris, New York and Tokyo. Years of consulting with brands like Samsung, Victoria’s Secret, Ray Ban, Alloy Target, Walmart and xoxo revealed her keen sense of what was to come as she later watched futures she anticipated come to fruition.
More recently she has been engaging with the millennial generations (x, y and now z) directly through Future Resident conceptual artworks found in media outlets, other unexpected places and galleries. This new direct way of interacting has provided more insight into the needs and wants of this culture of hipsters, so Caroline is more able to influence client's ability to reach them than ever before.
